ENTERING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Salvation

To enter into the new covenant and become a kingdom citizen you must be born again. Everyone is born a sinner (Romans 3:23). Something must be done about the terrible situation we were born into. God did something about, He sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins. He went to the cross and suffered and die for us. Jesus justified us. He made our sins just as if we never committed them.
Here are the ABC's of salvation:

  • Acknowledge you are a sinner and repent
  • Believed in your heart that God raised Jesus
  • Confess with your mouth the He is Lord

"For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:10).

Baptism

Once you give your life to Christ, you must be baptized. It is an ordinance established by Jesus. Water baptism is a beautiful picture of what Jesus has done for us. As we are immersed in the water, we symbolize the burial with our Lord; we are baptized into His death on the cross and the identification of the believer with Him. (Romans 6:3–7). "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin" (Romans 6:4-6).

Covenant

A covenant is a contract or agreement between two or more people or parties. Once you say yes, to Christ and have repented, been baptized and fully submitted your life to Him, you have entered a covenant with God, and God sets the terms and makes the rules governing the covenant. His Word must now govern your life.

Sanctification

The Holy Spirit works in your life to set you apart for God service.
Discipleship
To become a disciplined learner we must know the will, way and Word of God, and that requires, studying the Word, daily prayer and obedience.  Our objective should be to walk with God, bear spiritual fruit and please Him in word and deed. Jesus wanted to transform people into committed disciples. To be a disciple of Jesus requires several things:

  1. Choice - we must choose to grow in the things of God.
  2. Resolve - we must be persistent in our pursuit of spiritual maturity.
  3. Discipline - we must be disciplined in obeying God's will.
  4. Dependence - we must trust God to develop our spiritual character.

Spiritual Maturity

We have to grow up in the things of God. Let's go beyond the basics. Let's build on the basic doctrines and go on to Christlikeness. Let's go on to spiritual maturity "leaving the elementary teaching about Christ" "Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. And this we will do, if God permit" Hebrews 6:1-3).

Repentance is the negative, turning from sin and unbelief, and faith is the positive side. It is believing in and being confident that the word of God is true.  Warning: The Levitical washings only foreshadowed that atoning sacrifice of Jesus because only His blood can wash away our sins, and an essential element in the Day of Atonement ritual was laying on of the hands by the High Priest and we lay on hands for impartation. The resurrection of the dead is a core belief in Christianity because Jesus is "the resurrection and the life." Eternal judgment is a long held belief."For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:14).
Put your trust in the blood of the Lamb of God who takes always all sin and go on to maturity.
